Itinerary:
Day 1: Marrakesh to Dades Valley
The trip starts in Marrakech – we will pick you up from your hotel or Riad at 8 am. We then travel to the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou (classified as a UNESCO world heritage site) through the High Atlas Mountains and the 2260m high Tichka Pass.
After lunch in a local restaurant, the trip continues to the Hollywood of Africa – Ourazazate City. We stop by the cinema studios and enjoy a panoramic view of Taourirte Kasbah. 40 km from Ourzazate stands the palm grove of Skoura. There are two valleys in the region – The Valley of Roses and Dades Valley, where you will spend your first night in a beautiful local hotel.
Day 2: Dades Valley to Erg Chebi Dunes (Merzouga)
After breakfast, we drive to Tinghir for a panoramic view of Berber Villages and the Valley of Toudgha. We will then walk through the impressive Toudgha Gorge with its towering cliffs. The tour continues to Erg Chebi Dunes where you ride camel over the sand dunes and enjoy the sunset on the way to camp. Dinner in the camp is followed by a campfire, music, and simply enjoying the silence and stars in the desert.
Day 3: Draa Valley, Tinififte Pass, Ouarzazate, Marrakesh
After watching the morning sunrise, you will ride your camel back to the hotel for a shower and breakfast. Next we will visit a large traditional market in the area, then continue to Reg Desert, where the tree of the Acacia Radiana adapts to the dry environment. Next stop is the green landscape of the Draa Valley, before crossing the Anti-Atlas Mountains through Tinififte Pass. Lunch is in Ouarzazate, then we will continue to Marrakesh and drop you off at your Riad or Hotel.
Day 4: Overnight in Amazign
For the four-day tour, after Ouarzazate we will continue to Amazign, or the Calm City as it’s known in Berber. The Kasbah of Tourirte is the first site you visit on day 4. It was the residence of Glaoui the Pacha of Marrakech and is a well restored example of Berber Kasbah architecture. At Africa’s Hollywood, we will visit the cinema studios where great movies, such as Lawrence of Arabia and The Mummy, were filmed. There will be a stop for lunch on the way back to The Red City – Marrakech – before we drop you off at your hotel or Riad.
